What is MND?

Motor Neurone Disease is a wasting disease. It attacks the nerves that control movement in different parts of the body. There have been advances in research in recent years which gives hopes that prevention or cure may be found. I am raising funds that will contribute to research and support of sufferers in the Bournemouth area. For more information see MNDA HQ site and the local branch at East Dorset and New Forest MNDA branch. For details of the ride follow this link: Paris to Geneva. This will be in memory of my mother and Ruth's father, both of whom suffered with MND.

Why another charity ride?

Well, here we go again! The truth is I really enjoyed the London to Paris ride and wanted to have another go. Perhaps it was the wonderful weather or perhaps the company of a lovely group. Whatever the reason, I wanted to get another charity ride in before I realise that my 60th is not too far away. I have kept in touch with same friends from the Paris trip and we have met up several times this year in each other's areas and that convinced me that I am able to do this new trip. This will also be in memory of my mother and my father-in-law, both of whom were victims of MND 26 and 23 years ago respectively.

It will be tough and will need a lot of work to make sure I am in a position to enjoy it. 4 days and 330 miles. The first day looks fairly easy, second day more difficult, third day testing and the last day tough. At least the morning will be will a climb to 1300 metres. Then a reward of a lovely downhill 50 kilometres into Geneva. So encourage me by giving generously. The more there is in the pot before I go, the more I will be determined to get there.
